It is said that faith makes all things possible, that hope makes all things work and that love makes all things beautiful. And last year’s CityKidz Ottawa Gift of Christmas was a tremendous example of this in every way. The generosity of this community in supporting our Christmas Hamper and Toy Drive ensured that the Gift of Christmas – a gift which is equal parts faith, hope and love – did come to those who might otherwise go without.
It was an answer to prayer to a girl like Jenny who feared that Christmas would not come this year because her parents were laid off because of COVID, and there is not enough to go around. Her faithfulness was rewarded. Thanks to a loving community, each of our CityKidz Ottawa families were able share in the celebrations and feel the presence of season. That is a huge blessing to the children we serve and to their parents.
Each hamper was filled with a set of pajamas for each child, a special bag of Christmas snacks, a gift for every child in the family under 12, and a $50 grocery gift card.
You can never have too much love and these amazing gifts represented love in action. The act of sorting, wrapping, filling and delivering the hampers on December 18th to each of our families, made CityKidz volunteers so happy and grateful to be a part of something amazing. These hampers ensured that God’s love was shared and helped bring Christmas to everyone.
