Wendy Turpin

Executive Director, CityKidz Ottawa

Before becoming the Executive Director of CityKidz Ottawa, Wendy was a single mom who raised three sons from their early years to adulthood. During this time, she was actively involved with her local church and found time to earn a university degree in Psychology, Religion and Theology at Redeemer University College in Ancaster. Additionally, Wendy also has over 20 years in civil and criminal litigation support services. All these experiences combined to create a strong conviction for social justice and a deep love for children living in low-income communities. Wendy is a creative and intuitive decision maker, good problem solver, and personal communicator with strong administrative skills. Wendy is a dynamic leader who is determined to bring faith, hope and love to the children of Ottawa.

Meet Our Board of Directors

Our Board of Directors bring insight, passion, and a wealth of knowledge to their role as stewards of CityKidz Ottawa’s mission.

Les Brown

As a member of his church’s Governing Council, Les enjoyed working with teams to collaborate and accomplish challenging organizational and spiritual growth projects. Through his volunteer work with FaithWalk and as a Sunday School teacher, Les has come to believe that kids need to experience meaningful successes as they grow up, and CityKidz has a key role in that success.

Cheryl Nugent

Cheryl was introduced to CityKidz Ottawa in 2017 when she was invited to the Fall Gala. Since then, she remains impressed with the passion CityKidz has for building into the lives of the children and families in Ottawa. This includes the junior leadership program which continues to mentor teens who have graduated from CityKidz. Cheryl brings her training and experience in helping local charities plan events to the CityKidz board.

Angie St-Amour

With a Degree in Social Science specializing in Child Development, Angie is a full-time childcare program administrator. Her teaching philosophy that all children should be able to express themselves openly, engage with potential opportunities, and have a sense of well being and belonging in their learning environment has guided her work as an educator and as a member of the CityKidz Ottawa Board.
