Our Team
We are a people of faith, a community of hope and servants of love. This is the Board of Directors moving our mission forward.

Wendy Turpin
Executive Director, CityKidz Ottawa
Before becoming the Executive Director of CityKidz Ottawa, Wendy was a single mom who raised three sons from their early years to adulthood. During this time, she was actively involved with her local church and found time to earn two university degrees in Psychology and Religion and Theology. Additionally, Wendy also has over 20 years in civil and criminal litigation support services. All these experiences combined to create a strong conviction for social justice and a deep love for children living in low-income communities. Wendy is an ordained minister with Global Christian Ministry Forum. She is a dynamic leader who is determined to bring faith, hope and love to the children of Ottawa.

Meet Our Board of Directors
Our Board of Directors bring insight, passion, and a wealth of knowledge to their role as stewards of CityKidz Ottawa’s mission.

Les Brown
Chair
As a member of his church’s Governing Council, Les enjoyed working with teams to collaborate and accomplish challenging organizational and spiritual growth projects. Through his volunteer work with FaithWalk and as a Sunday School teacher, Les has come to believe that kids need to experience meaningful successes as they grow up, and CityKidz has a key role in that success.

Cheryl Nugent
Member
Cheryl was introduced to CityKidz Ottawa in 2017 when she was invited to the Fall Gala. Since then, she remains impressed with the passion CityKidz has for building into the lives of the children and families in Ottawa. This includes the junior leadership program which continues to mentor teens who have graduated from CityKidz. Cheryl brings her training and experience in helping local charities plan events to the CityKidz board.

Marsha O'Brien
Member
Marsha started as a volunteer in 2018 and quickly fell in love with the CityKidz mission and their dedication to build into the children‘s lives. With a degree in Early Childhood Education and being a leader of her church’s Children Ministry, Marsha sees how the importance of faith and hope can have a huge impact on a child’s life and how CityKidz plays a big role in every child that walks through their doors.
