The Playhouse is closed for the summer, but our Home Visit program continues year-round and this summer we brought back the Fun Squad!
We began this initiative during the pandemic to continue our fun programming with the kids even though we couldn’t meet in person. The Fun Squads were amazingly well received so we decided to keep it going this year as well.
The Fun Squads are enhanced home visits that bring a little of the Playhouse fun to the door of each child that is registered with us. It has been an incredibly fun time for all!
And that’s thanks to the amazing volunteers at CityKidz Ottawa! They are dedicated, hardworking, and love our CityKidz Kidz so much! Their faithfulness was clear in the time they took from their personal schedules — remember summer is vacation time — to put together individual snacks and giveaways each Fun Squad week for their kids, and to prepare to teach a special Fun Squad activity.
This summer, these amazing Fun Squad Teams knocked on 100 household doors to bring a lesson, a fun game, 336 snacks with a drink, 336 giveaways — and a whole lot of love — to each CityKidz child that lived there, and their families and friends!
