Remember when we shared the story of Zoey applying for the Be Community Fund Scholarship, where she highlighted her volunteer work with CityKidz? The scholarship would reward her with $1,000 and an additional $1,000 would be donated to her chosen charity, CityKidz Ottawa!
We’re excited to announce that Zoey graduated with honors in June 2024 and indeed won the Be Community Fund scholarship! Congratulations to her!
Our director, Wendy Turpin, was invited to her graduation as a surprise guest for the award presentation. When Wendy joined Zoey on stage, Zoey was moved to tears. Not because of winning the prize for herself, but because it meant a $1,000 donation to CityKidz. Zoey is deeply touched by the impact CityKidz has had on her life and she wants to give back!
But Zoey’s achievements don’t end there. Along with this scholarship, she also received other awards, including the prestigious Bishop Cody award of $20,000. This award recognizes students who have made exceptional contributions to school and community life and are continuing on to higher education. Amazing!
Zoey’s high school journey has been truly impressive, as she accomplished a lot in just 4 years. Her Guidance counselor noted her dedication to applying for scholarships, which has paid off. As Zoey prepares for university, she is eager for what lies ahead.
Being a part of Zoey’s journey with CityKidz has been a true blessing for us. We have watched her grow from a young child into a senior leader in our programs, always showing enthusiasm as a participant and volunteer. Zoey’s accomplishments with CityKidz and her impressive high school achievements make us incredibly proud. She embodies the message we aim to instill in all our CityKidz children – to dream big and believe that with God, anything is possible. Zoey has truly embraced this message and excelled! We believe this is just a start and that she is on the path to achieving great things and succeeding in the future!
